Apparently unpublished. This ancient greek coin of King Philip II is not listed in any major references. There is only 1 example in online auction archives which is from a different set of dies. The closest coin it resembles is SNG 903 which has an AI and trident control mark. This coin is not currently for sale. Please contact us if you wish to acquire it.
Philip II of Macedon was King of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great and Philip III Arrhidaeus. The bronze series of this type is extensive and differentiated principally by the different symbols and letters which appear on the reverse and occasionally on the obverse. These symbols and letters, known as control marks, were used to identify the officials responsible for a particular issue of coinage.
