A fibula is a brooch or pin used in antiquity to fasten garments, similar to today's safety-pin. There were many different styles and types used over the centuries. Four of the five in this group correspond to types dated to the 1st century AD and found in various parts of the Roman Empire: Augen; aucissa; dolphin or langton down. The fifth (P-shape bow) is dated to the 2nd to 3rd centuries AD.
