A fine portrait to rival any of those found on Syracusan tetradrachms
Metapontion was an Ancient Greek city on the Gulf of Tarentum, in modern day Italy. In antiquity it produced some of the most beautiful of ancient Greek coins. It is thought that Pythagoras fleed to Metapontion where he spent the rest of his days.
