In Greek mythology, Kore Soteira, better known as Persephone, is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. In the famous myth, she was taken by Hades into the underworld to live with him as his wife. Zeus ordered that she be returned. However during her time there, she had eaten six pomegranate seeds. Anyone who ate in the underworld was required to remain there for eternity. She was forced to return to the underworld 6 months of each year - one month for each seed.
