Kos is an island in the south-eastern Agegan sea. On trade routes between Egypt, Syria, Cypurs and Anotalia, Kos prospered in antiquity where it was known, amongst other things, for its silk. Perhaps the most famous person to have lived on Kos, was the greek physician Hippocrates, known today as the 'Father of Medicine' and credited with creating or at least inspiring, the Hippocratic Oath.
