Information: A very rare coin. This is the only example known to Ancient Coin Traders in auction archives. A pleasant example of the unusual relief / incuse types of Southern Sicily. In this case, the eagle has been chosen instead of the tripod for the incuse design.

General: Kroton was an Achaean colony founded in 710 BC in what is today Crotone, Calabria. The city flourished and in around 500BC its population was between 50,000 and 80,000. The city was famous for producing many champions of the Olympic Games.
