General: Trikka was founded in the 3rd millennium BC. Like Larrisa, Tirrka was named after a nymph (Trikka). The city was built strategically between a hill and the river Lithaios. It was an important city in ancient times and was famous as the birthplace of the greek god Asclepius. The city produced a significant number of hemidrachms, likely under some arrangement with Larissa.
