General: Eanred was the King of Northumbria. Very little is known about him other than he was the son of King Earwulf and that he reigned for 33 years. During his reign the 'styca' as a form of currency appeared. Evidence suggests they were minted in large quantities and likely to have been used for external trade. The Bolton Percy hoard was discovered by two Bolton Percy schoolboys in 1967 in a field nearby their village. Further searching found another much larger hoard nearby. Combined, this hoard is one of the largest early Medieval hoards.
