General: Celtic coinage were influenced by Greek designs, especially coins of Philip II of Macedonia nd Alexander the Great, the coinage of whom was widespread throughout the empire and had broad reach in trade. This coin is an imitation of a drachm of Philip IIII Arrhidaeus of Macedon, the half-brother to Alexander the Great. These type of coins have scyphate (cup-shaped) flans. Celtic imitatives range from designs which closely resemble their prototypes, to coins whcih are very abstract in design.
