Obverse: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, Bust of Faustina II, draped, wearing stephane, with hair elaborately waived in nearly vertical lines with a row of curls down her cheek, and fastened in chignon low at back of head.
Reverse: IVNONI REGINAE SC left and right, in field. Juno veiled, draped, standing front, head left, holding patera in extended right hand and vertical sceptre in left hand. To left peacock standing left, head turned up backwards to right.

General: It is much less common to see a portrait of Faustina the Younger in which she is wearing a stephane in her hair. Faustina the Younger was the wife of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (known to many as the Emperor at the start of the movie Gladiator). Interestingly the estimated dating of Faustina's coins is by reference to her coiffure (hairstyle). A detailed portrait accommodated by the large size of the sestertius, with most details visible and inscriptions legible. Appears to have had some restoration on the reverse by a previous owner.
